Assessment by Australian Computer Society (ACS)

What Is the ACS Skills Assessment?

The Australian Computer Society (ACS) is the government-authorised assessing body for IT, data science, and cyber security professionals applying for skilled migration to Australia.

ACS evaluates whether your academic qualifications and professional experience align with the requirements of your chosen occupation.

Successful applicants also receive a complimentary 12-month ACS membership, opening access to professional development events, career resources, and industry networking in Australia.

Who Needs ACS Assessment?

Any ICT professional seeking a points-based Subclass 189, 190, or 491 skilled visa must hold a valid ACS assessment. It is also required for Subclass 494 (Employer Sponsored Regional Visa) and Subclass 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme).

Assessment Pathways

General Skills Pathway: The most common route for experienced ICT professionals with recognised tertiary qualifications.

Post Australian Study Pathway: For international students who completed an Australian ICT Bachelor's degree or higher.

Temporary Graduate Pathway (Subclass 485): For applicants who completed an Australian diploma or associate degree in ICT and wish to apply for the Temporary Graduate visa.
